Update Procedure (X9 Series)

Update Procedure (X9 Series)

  1. Preparation:

    • Prepare a high-speed Micro SD card (Class 10 or higher, 32GB/64GB recommended).

    • Format the SD card to FAT32.

    • Ensure the camera has a stable 5V power source. Do not power off during the update process.

  2. File Placement:

    • Obtain the specific firmware for your new lens (e.g., X9.BRN).

    • Copy the file directly to the root directory of the SD card (do not place it inside any folders).

  3. The Flashing Process:

    • Insert the SD card into the camera (with the old lens still attached).

    • Connect the power. The 4K indicator LED (or all LEDs, depending on the version) will begin to flash rapidly, indicating the update is in progress.

    • Be Patient: The process takes approximately 90 to 120 seconds. The camera will usually shut down or reboot automatically once finished.

  4. Physical Lens Replacement:

    • Completely disconnect the power (remove battery or USB cable).

    • Carefully flip the ribbon cable latch on the mainboard and remove the old lens.

    • Insert the new lens (IMX258 or IMX317) ensuring the ribbon cable is fully seated and the latch is securely locked.

  5. Cleanup and Verification:

    • Power on the camera.

    • Important: Delete the X9.BRN file from the SD card immediately, or the camera will attempt to re-flash every time it starts.

    • Open the mobile App to verify the live feed and ensure the resolution settings match the new sensor’s specs.

  6. Important Notice:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Before attempting any firmware update, please contact our customer support team at support@matecamera.com to request the correct firmware file. Do not attempt to update the firmware on your own. If your device is currently functioning normally, we strongly recommend against upgrading, as an improper update can easily “brick” the device (rendering it permanently unusable). We will publish the latest firmware on our official blog as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
